First Lady Melania Trump was married to President Donald Trump on January 22, 2005, at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Church in Palm Beach Florida which is an Episcopal Church. Melania is Donald’s third wife. At the time of marriage, Melania was 35 years old and Donald was 59. They dated for seven years long before getting married. In 2006 the couple was blessed with son Barron William Trump.
The wedding of Melania and Donald was famous and covered by media extensively all around the world. Among many things, Melania’s wedding dress, her wedding ring, the cake and VIP attendees were the main attraction.
Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were the best men for their father.
Melania’s Wedding Dress
Melania Trump wore a Christian Dior dress designed by John Galliano which cost approximately around $100,000 in her wedding. The fabric used to make that dress was 300 ft. of white duchesse satin which was covered with 16 ft. oceanic veil. It took 550 man hour to complete all the embroidery.
Later in the evening, she wore another extravagant leg slit silk dress to impress for the poolside party; she was living a girl’s dream. She changed the dress because the wedding dress was too heavy to put on and walk for a long time.
Melania Trump was featured in Vogue Magazine’s cover after the month of her wedding in the same wedding dress.
The Wedding Ring
The wedding ring of Melania Trump is worth $3 million which is 12 karat diamond with emerald- cut fine diamond set in Platinum. The ring is so good that it’s known as the “The Lord of the Rings”. It was designed by the London-based jeweler Lawrence Graff; his rings are famous for being simple and impeccably fine.
Lucky Trump had to pay only $1.5 million for that ring due to the deal he made; after all he is a businessman and deal-maker. The deal was that Graff’s would get huge promotion from Trump’s show “The Apprentice”. So, the ring was 50% discount for Mr. Trump than its retail price.
Trump selected the ring with the help of Jeffery Rackover, who was the vice-president of Graff’s and a friend of Trump.
The Super Cake and Dinner
The wedding cake prepared for Trump’s wedding was the most expensive cake ever made at the time until 2011 Prince Williams and Kate’s marriage broke the record.
Melania’s wedding cake was 7 layered 200-pound cake baked by former pastry chef of Mar-a-Lago Mr. Cedric Barberet. The Grand Marnier cake stole the whole show for sure. It was 70 inches in diameter with unbelievable 3,000 iced roses.
The cake was above the price of $50,000 and it took the whole 2 months to design. The cake was selected by Melania herself after rejecting blue and golden design which was first proposed. Finally, Melania chose the classic gold, white and yellow cake with orange flavor. Also, it was full of buttercream and Grand Marnier.
The cake was nothing like anyone has seen before or created. The interesting fact is that nobody ate that cake because of all the wires constructed to make it stand. But the same recipe was prepared separately to serve the attendees before going home.
So, who ate the real cake? It was served to all the staffs after the wedding.
The dinner was huge too; Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten prepared it. After the grand dinner, each guest received chocolate truffle cake making it more special.
Decoration at the wedding
After all this, the wedding dress, the cake and the ring you can imagine how the decor of the wedding venue was. It was elegant and beautiful designed by the NY-based event designer Preston Bailey. The event was very romantic with roses, hydrangeas, orchids, vernaculars and all the white and creamy palette.
Bailey was remembered again and again by Trump family due to his good work. He too designed Eric’s and Ivanka’s wedding.
The whole wedding cost about $35 million and the reception was spectacular as Versailles.
Former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton have also attended the wedding ceremony. Other famous faces seen in Melania and Donald’s wedding are Simon Cowell, P. Diddy, Katie Couric, Heidi Klum, Tony Bennet, Gayle King, Rudy Giuliani, Anna Wintour, Don King, Russell Simmons, Shaquille O’Neal, Matt Lauer, Star Jones, Barbara Walters, Mort Zuckerman, Kathie Lee Gifford, Les Moonves, Julie Chen, Jeff Zucker, Kelly Ripa, Chris Christie, Paul Anka, Billy Joel, Steve Wynn, Chris Matthews, George Pataki, Regis Philbin, Pat O’Brien, Kathy Hilton, and Stone Philips.
Overall the wedding was grandiose.
