Lieutenant General Joseph K. Kellogg served as the chief of staff for the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a highly decorated war veteran. After his retirement from Army after working for several defense contractors, Kellogg became a foreign policy advisor for Donald Trump‘s 2016 presidential campaign. He served  as the National Security Advisor for President Donald Trump after Michael Flynn resigned from his position.

Currently, he is the  Chief of Staff of the United States National Security Council in the Trump administration.

Introduction

Keith Kellog who is also known as Joseph Keith Kellogg Jr. is a retired army Lieutenant General. Lieutenant General Kellogg served as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Cubic Corporation, Senior V.P. of Ground Combat Programs at Cubic Defense Applications.

Kellogg served as an Executive V.P. of Research and Technology Systems of CACI International. He served as a Senior V.P. of Homeland Security Solutions of Oracle Corp since January 2005. He also served as Commander of the 82nd Airborne Division and worked for the Joint Chiefs of Staff as Director for all computing and communications for U.S. forces.

During his 32-year Army career, he served for a number of defense contractors. He was a Vocal Advocate for information technology as part of the Defense Department’s transformation toward network-centric operations. He served as an Independent Director of GTSI, Independent Director of Analex Corporation, a Member of the Strategic Advisory Board at RedXDefense, LLC. After his retirement from Army, he was appointed as Foreign Policy advisor for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Early Life

Joseph Keith Kellogg Jr. was born on May 12, 1944, at Wright- Patterson Air Force base near Dayton, Ohio. His father was in the Army Air Forces during World War II when he was born. His brother was born at Davis- Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz.

After the war, he returned to California where his father’s family was involved oil business. He grew up in Long Beach. Kellogg wanted to be in the Army since before he can remember. Kellogg earned a B.A degree in Political Science from the University of Santa Clara in California. He went to study M.A in Political Science from the University of Kansas; U.S. Army War College.

In 1990 to 1991, During Operation Desert Shield, he served as the chief of staff for the 82nd Airborne Division. After becoming a Lieutenant general and serving as the Director of Command, Control, Communications and computers for U.S forces, he retired from the Army in 2003. He earned “the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star, and several Bronze Stars”, during his military career.

CACI International

In 2005, CACI International Inc. appointed Lieutenant General Joseph K. Kellogg as its executive Vice President of Research and Technology system business group.

CACI is an organization that aims to provide technology that fosters ” assure homeland security, the transformation of defense and intelligence and help the government to work faster, smarter, and more responsively”.

CACI provides “information technology, intelligence and logistics support for the U.S. Army and other Defense Department clients in the U.S., Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Kellogg worked for four years in CACI until 2009.

Donald Trump Presidential Campaign, 2016

Trump announced his presidency bid at Trump Tower on June 16, 2015. Nine months later, Trump announced a list of foreign policy advisor for his campaign where Joseph Keith Kellogg was given the responsibility of Foreign Policy Advisor. According to CNN, Trump has criticized American involvement in Iraq whereas Kellogg have different perspectives on the war in Iraq, but Trump said that he likes “different opinions.”

Acting National Security Advisor for Donald Trump administration

Keith was hired as the acting national security advisor for Donald Trump as the present advisor Michael Flynn resigned from his position as one.Michael Flynn had resigned stating he had no contacts with Russian ambassador. He lasted his role for a month and now until another permanent replacement is found Kellog will serve President Donald Trump.

Personal Life

Keith Kellog is married to a former Fort Bragg paratrooper and a veteran of the 1983 Grenada invasion Paige Cook. Keith and Paige have three children which comprise of Meaghan age 30, Tyler age 26 and Bryan 32 years.
