Lauren Mayberry is the Scottish singer, writer, Journalist and songwriter. She is associated with the band Chvrches which is a Synth-pop band.
Mayberry produces and writes songs jointly with the team mates Lain Cook and Martin Doherty. Lauren is the main vocalist of the band.
Childhood and Education
Lauren Mayberry was the piano player since her early childhood and started playing drums in her teenage. She was introduced to music and instruments since her childhood.
She is a student of Journalism and she graduated from the University of Strathclyde. Her schooling was from the Beaconhurst School in Bridge of Allan. In 2010 she completed Masters in Journalism. After graduation she started her career in freelancing and production running.
Career in Music
Mayberry had learned to play musical instruments from her childhood and in her teenage she played drums in various bands. Before joining Chvrches she was rolling with the bands Boyfriend/Girlfriend and Blue Sky Archives. Both band were local. She was vocalist at Blue Sky Archives and her first single was released “Killing in the name” which was a Rage Against the Machine song.
Lain Cook in 2011 was producing the band Blue Sky Archives and he decided to start a new project with Martin Doherty and requested Lauren Mayberry to give her voice in couple of songs. The trio worked together for more than 8 months and started a band together.
How the band got it’s name Chvrches?
Actually the original band name they decided was Churches but later they come to conclusion to replace the letter “u” in churches with roman “v” to distinguish themselves from the internet search. They would never had a chance to compete with the actual Church search.
In 2013 Glassnote records sign the band after releasing the tracks like “The mother we share”, “Lies” in 2012. They released their debut album “The Bones of What You Believe” on the same year they signed with Glassnote.
Lauren Mayberry has worked with Bleachers, Death Cab for Cutie and The National while they collaborated with Chvrches.
Relationship
She is in relationship with American actor Justin Long. They started dating since 2016. Justin Long had worked on the movies like Jeepers Creepers, Dodgeball, Accepted, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Live Free or Die Hard, Alpha and Omega, Tusk and Comet.
Lauren Mayberry’s previous relationship was abusive and she has penned down her story for Lenny Letter.
Beside Music
Lauren is actively doing philanthropist work and activism. She is a feminist vocalist. She is raising her voice and writing articles against misogyny. One of her article was even published in The Guardian which was about the sexist comments she received online.
Mayberry further talk about it on the show on Channel 4 news for the aggressive responses she faced for her band’s video for the song “Leave a Trace”.
Lauren is involved in many organizations like Water Aid and The Yellow Bird Project and she even donates a portion of her tickets sale to Amnesty International.

She disagrees that it is not only a mental problem but also a gun problem. She has protested by giving gun control hashtags in her twitter post criticizing Donald Trump.
