People did not call 2016 US Presidential election the most unconventional campaign in history for nothing. Both the primary elections and presidential run were packed with vulgarism, abuse, debasing nicknames and mockery. While Trump refers others as crooked, light weight and several other names, he also became the center of mockery because of his unusual hair and apparently short fingers.
If you look closely, Trump’s fingers are not as short as people think they are. However, to find out about his hair, the investigative reporters had to arrange a meeting with his former hairdresser.
What Trump’s hairdresser has to say about his hair?
According to 52-year-old Amy Lasch, Trump always refrained away from hair stylists. He would rather get a haircut from someone from the family. Perhaps, Donald Trump was afraid that his hair would be mocked because of its unusual look.
In the interview, Amy also revealed Donald Trump’s secret to that trademark hairstyle: heavy use of lacquer. At the same time, she clarified that the President-elect doesn’t wear a wig or a toupee. His hair is completely natural – not transplanted or faked as people like to see and mock it. Amy said, “He has really long hair and he combs it back straight. He does it himself. It is real and it is his hair – he doesn’t have plugs.”
As people are largely curious about Trump’s hair, Amy continued unraveling each secret: When I looked at the back of his hair I could tell it was not a hairdresser cutting it. It was scary. It was just cut in a straight line. The colour was so inconsistent. It was not done correctly. They just coloured the top and did not colour what was underneath properly. It was someone in his inner-circle who was cutting and colouring his hair. His wife or maybe his daughter.
Likewise, Amy talked about some other Trump hairstyling habits. Although she was his appointed hairdresser, she would never get to do much. Even when Amy would try to fix the messed up hair parts, Trump would fix it himself. Amy added, “I did comb the back and did the sides a bit. But everything was solid. It was matted to stay put. I tapped it with my comb and it would bounce back.”
Amy connected Trump’s hair to his political career
Amy Lasch became a bit analytic about Trump’s hair. She said, “He’s been combing his hair in the same way since the 1980s. What I don’t like about that is that he is afraid of change.” Lasch may be right to say that to some extent, but her analysis just seems unreasoned.
Lasch, who did his hair for several years for The Apprentice, also sensed chauvinism in his behaviors. She told that Trump was flirty and wanted her to smile at his jokes.
