Phil Murphy is a popular American politician as well as a financier and diplomat. Currently, he has been servicing as the 56th Governor of New Jersey. Previously, he has also worked as the chair of the Democratic Governors Association and also as a Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Early Life:

Phil Murphy was born as Philip Dunton Murphy on August 16, 1957, in Needham, Massachusetts, USA. And spent most of his childhood in Newton, Massachusetts. He is the son of Dorothy Louise and Walter F. Murphy. He is not the only son of his parents but has three older siblings- Janet Murphy Brown and Dorothy Murphy Egan. While his third sibling’s name hasn’t been disclosed yet. Phil Murphy completed his AB degree in Economics from Harvard University in the year 1979. Later, in 1983, he completed his MBA degree from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Career:

He started his career from Goldman Sachs in the year 1982. Later, from 1992 until 1997, he worked in the Frankfurt Office. In 1997, he was appointed the President of Goldman Sachs for Asia. Later, in 2001, Phil Murphy was appointed the global co-head of the Investment Management Division. He retired from the company back in the year 2006. On September 3, 2009, Phil Murphy was appointed the United States Ambassador to Germany and serviced until August 26, 2013. Currently, he is the 56th governor of New Jersey since January 16, 2018. During the 2016 Presidential Election, he supported Hilary Clinton’s campaign rather than Donald Trump’s. Very recently, in April 2020, Donald Trump and Phil Murphy met to discuss the recent coronavirus pandemic.

Personal Life:

In the year 1994, Phil Murphy got married to Tammy Snyder. The couple had first met back in 1987 but didn’t date for seven years. When they started dating, they got engaged in the next 18 days itself and within 6 months of their relationship, they had already married. Now, they share a total number of 4 children- Emmanuelle Medway Murphy, Charles Dunton Murphy, Sam Murphy, and Josh Murphy.
