Narendra Modi, the 14th prime minister of India who is well known for becoming prime minister from a common beginning.
Early Life:
Born on 17 September 1950 in Vadnagar, Gujarat, India, Narendra Modi is the third of six youngsters born to father DamodardasMulchand Modi and mother Hiraben Modi. His father was a street businessman who struggled to support the family. In early age Narendra and his brother sold-out tea at the bus station to assist out his parents. Modi completed his higher education in Vadnagar in 1967, where his teacher describes him as an average student and a keen debator, with interest in theater.Despite being an average student, Modi spent hours within the library and was called a robust arguer. In his early teens, he joined AkhilBharatiyaVidyarthiParishad, the scholar wing of RashtriyaSwayamsevakSangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist party.
Political Career:
Modi decided to dedicate his life to politics in Gujarat, joining the RSS in 1971. During the 1975-77 political crisis, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency, forbidding political organizations like the RSS. At that moment Modi became underground and wrote a book, Sangharsh ma Gujarat (Gujarat in Emergency). The book chronicles his experiences as a political fugitive. In 1978, Modi completed his graduation from Old Delhi University with a degree in political science and finished his master’s work at Gujarat University in 1983.
Narendra Modi was allotted by the RSS to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that stood for Hindu nationalism. His rise through the ranks was speedy, as he sagely selected mentors to additional his career.
