Lester Holt is an American journalist who was born on 8 march 1959 . He has been doing journalism since 1981 . He has a very bold personality . He has done journalism for many television . Due to his services in the field of journalism, he has been honored by awards .
Early life
Lester Holt was born on March 8, 1959 , in Marin county , California . His father Lester holt sr was in US air force and his mother June holt was a regional planner . Lester has a mixed ethnicity like Indian , Jamaican, and English , as his maternal grandparents were from jamaica . Talking of his education he graduated from Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, California, in 1977 . He then joined California state University where he majored in government . He got his Doctorate from Pepperdine University in 2012.
Career
His career started as a disc jockey , he had a keen interest in anchoring and television . while he was in college he got the job in a radio station . After his college, he started to look for new jobs and luckily found a job at New York City at WCBS-TV in 1981 as a reporter . After a year he was hired by KNXT in LA as a reporter and weekly news anchor . In 1986 he started working for WBBM-TV in Chicago . He spent 14 years on that TV doing anchoring for the evening news .He lasted that long because everyone had appreciated his work . Holt has also done extensive reporting in places like Iraq , Afghanistan , Somalia , El Salvador , Haiti etc. He finally left WBBM-TV and started working on MSNBC in 2000 . In August 2005 Holt started doing full-time duties on NBC . Due to his good service in NBC, he was named anchor of the weekend edition of NBC Nightly News on 9th May 2007 . Holt has also been seen in many movies and TV series as a minor character . In the film Fugitive(1993) he was given the cameo role . Holt has done a voice over in the episode on “sandwich day ” . Lester has also been the feature in making music magazine , due to his love and interest for music . He was awarded with Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for his work on 48 Hours: No Place Like Home aired by CBS .

Lester Holt stands 6 ft 2 inches tall . He married Carol Hagen in 1982 . They have 2 sons Stefan Holt and Cameron Holt . He currently residing in Manhattan with his wife . Holt plays bass guitar in his spare time . He is also very religious and attends Manhattan Church of Christ in New York.
