Malia Obama is the eldest daughter of former US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Malia is a recent high school graduate, looking forward to attending Harvard University in the fall of 2017.

Early Life and Education

Malia Obama was born on July 4, 1998 at the University of Chicago Medical Center, having been delivered by Obama’s family friend Anita Blanchard. She went to Sidwell Friends School, Washington for high school education. Chelsea Clinton, Tricia Nixon, and Archibald Roosevelt also went to Sidwell during their parent’s time at the White House. Prior to joining Sidwell, Malia was a student at the University of Chicago Laboratory School.

Graduating from the high school in 2016, Malia Obama decided to take a gap year. She will join Harvard University for her undergraduate education.

Personal Life

Malia is just 18 years old. Hence, it’s hard to expect her dating yet. However, the things might change as she goes to Harvard for undergraduate studies.

Barack Obama has always been an exemplary father to the world. Prior to his inauguration in 2008, he wrote an open letter whereby he described the America “with no limits on your dreams and no achievements beyond your reach, and to grow into compassionate, committed women who will help build that world” he wanted for his daughters and other children.

Malia is a big soccer and dance fan. She also likes playing piano and tennis. She is allergic to animals but enjoys playing with dogs. Barack Obama presented his daughters with two Portuguese Water Dogs named Sunny and Bo.

Career

Malia Obama will be pursuing the field of media and film making at Harvard University, starting in August 2017. However, till then, she will be working with famous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein as an intern. The internship program started in February.

In the past, i.e. in 2014 and 2015, Malia worked as an intern at several New York and Los Angeles-based television studios. After graduating in 2016, she went to work in the US Embassy in Spain. Besides, Malia has largely engaged herself in several of her parent’s philanthropic activities. As of June 2016, she was in Liberia along with her mother and sister promoting the Let Girls Learn Peace Initiative. While in the tour, Malia also met Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and traveled to Morocco for an education awareness initiative in collaboration with Meryl Streep and Frieda Pinto.

Malia went to Bolivia and Peru on n 83-day gap year trip.
