Carter Page is the founder and a managing partner of the Global Energy Capital LLC. He was the foreign policy advisor to President Donald Trump‘s 2016 presidential campaign.

Synopsis

In 2000, Page accepted a position with Merrill Lynch and worked as an investment banker with the company for seven years, rising to the position of chief operating officer of the energy and power group. While at Merrill Lynch, Page used to spend time in the firm’s New York and London offices and he worked for three years as Deputy Branch Manager when the firm’s Moscow branch opened in 2004. In 2008, Page founded Global Energy Capital LLC, a New York-based financial institution and investment fund focused on energy investments in developing markets. He is currently managing partner at Global Energy Capital and a fellow with the Center for National Policy in Washington, D.C. On June 16, 2015, Carter page joined Donald Trump Presidential Campaign, 2016 as foreign policy advisors.

Early Years

Carter Page was a Trident Scholar and distinguished graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He has cleared his M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of London, and is a certified chartered financial analyst (CFA).

In 2000, Page started working and spent his 7 years as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in New York, London and Moscow, where he served as Chief Operating Officer (C.E.O) of the Energy and Power Group. He was involved in over $25 billion of transactions in the energy and power sector. He was in Moscow for 3 years where he was responsible for the opening of the Merrill office and was an advisor on key transactions for RAO UES, Gazporm and others. Previously, Page was a Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations where he was responsible for energy-related research on the Caspian Sea region. Page is a frequent lecturer and writer on energy sector development in emerging markets. After returning to New York, Page took a buyout of Merrill in 2008 to start his own firm, known as  Global Energy Capital LLC.

He traveled to Turkmenistan , to raise a $1 billion private equity fund to buy assets in the former Soviet republic, and meet with top government officials.

Page worked with Yatsenko on helping a Russian investor explore an oil investment in Iraqi Kurdistan, and advised a Chinese investor looking to buy Russian oil assets in Eastern Siberia.

Global Energy Capital makes investments in the energy sector, primarily in emerging markets. It includes the “BRIC” countries which mainly focus on the oil and gas sector, as oil-field service and alternative energy sectors.

Donald Trump Presidential Campaign, 2016

Trump announced his presidential bid at Trump Tower on June 16, 2015. Nine months later, Trump announced a list of foreign policy advisor for his campaign where Carter Page was given responsibility to counsel Trump on energy policy and Russian relations.

He worked along with George Papadopoulos, Joseph Keith Kellog, Joseph Schmitz and Walid Phares with other acquaintances like Kellyanne Conway and Hope Hicks. All of them came from different background for making it all good for Donald Trump and we all know the results now as Trump was successful in defeating Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
